My name is Chris Skogen. I'm from Minnesota. I’ve been around bikes since I was eight years old and I work tirelessly to make the world a better place. My purpose in life is to inspire others. Period.

A while back I started a gravel road bike race called the Almanzo 100. It was a free, self-supported event through the hills of southern Minnesota. The first year, twelve people showed up. It kept going from there, grew bigger than I ever expected, and eventually took on a life of its own. I stepped away in 2014. In 2022, I was inducted into the Gravel Cycling Hall of Fame, which, while something I never saw coming, was a genuinely nice thing to have happen.

What you see here on this Almanzo C.C. site is the current chapter. This is group rides, not formal events, across the Upper Midwest and beyond. There is no entry fee and no fuss. Some days it's a crowd. Some days it's a few people and a good road. Either works.
